On the first day back for pupils after the long summer holidays two of our children had an extra special start to the new school year. Along with Mr. Williams, Charlie Robinson and Lucy Patterson took an early train to London Kings Cross station where they got on a fast Javelin train that took them to the Olympic Village in Stratford.
The group had tickets for the Paralympic athletics competitions in the main Olympic stadium. For over two hours the children were treated to a mixture of long jump, Discus, blind relay and 100m races. One particular highlight came with the Gold Medal Ceremony of the Team GB star David Weir.
Before the long journey back to Billingham the children enjoyed a stroll around the Olympic park in the glorious late summer sunshine, taking in the many sites that had become so familiar to millions of people throughout the summer games.
Both children represented the school impeccably throughout the day and were able to relay their experiences to the wider school community in a recent assembly.
